Don't hose any contaminated water into the stormwater system

What can you do?

Do not introduce fish into the wetland. The introduction of any fish will cause the quality of the water to decrease and threaten other native species. Leave the stocking of the wetland up to the experts. Carp should never be put into the wetlands because they stir up the bottom sediments and destroy the habitat.

Do not wash your car in the street or let any contaminated water run into the stormwater system. Use a broom to clean driveways and footpaths and put the dirt in the compost or your own backyard. Don't hose it into the gutter. Don't let dog or other animal droppings get into the gutter – bury them in the garden or dispose of them in a sealed bag in the bin.

Water monitoring

Help keep an eye on the local wetlands and nearby Torrens River by getting involved with a local monitoring program.  SA Water will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of water in the southern wetland, but the northern wetlands are separate and also need looking after.

Revegetating local waterway

Improve water quality and enhance local biodiversity replanting the nearby waterway along Linear Park. For more information on how to look after our water ways refer to the Water Care website at the link: www.watercare.net
