The Urban Design Guidelines contain a number of mandatory requirements that must be complied with before approval is given to proceed with construction at Lochiel Park.
These guidelines set a new benchmark for sustainable development in South Australia. See the link below for a copy of the current version of the guidelines. The guidelines are generally divided into two categories - Requirements and Advisory.
- Requirements - designate those items that must be complied with.
- Advisory - designate those items purchasers are encouraged to consider incorporating into the design and development of their properties so as to achieve further improvements in lifestyle, amenity and sustainability.
Section 4 of the guidelines details a performance or minimum target approach for environmental sustainability. The thermal performance or passive design of the home must achieve a minimum 7.5 star rating using the AccuRate modelling software as assessed by an accredited assessor. Section 4 also allows the use of the Lochiel Park Sustainability Rating Tool to provide greater flexibility in compliance with other energy and water saving targets. The following link provides a full copy of the current Urban Design Guidelines. This version number 3 was issued in August 2009.
